Terms of Service
1. Who these terms are with
These terms are between you and aaliSoft, the developer of Islamic Toolkit ("we", "us"). They apply to the Islamic Toolkit app on Android and to the Islamic Toolkit web app at apps.aalisoft.com/islamictoolkit/app/. By installing or using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. Contact us at [email protected]. How we handle information is described in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.
2. What the app is, and what it is not
- A helper, not a ruling. The app shows prayer times, the Qibla direction, the Quran with translations and audio, duas, ziyarat, hadith, a calendar and similar material. It is not a fatwa and does not replace a scholar, a mosque or your own community's authority. Where schools of thought differ, the app lets you choose one, but it cannot cover every opinion.
- Times and directions are calculations. Prayer times, the Hijri date, moon-based dates and the Qibla direction are worked out from your location and the method you choose. They can differ from your local mosque, from a moon sighting, and from other apps, and they can be wrong if your location, clock or phone sensors are wrong. Always check against your local authority where it matters, for example for fasting, Eid and the start and end of Ramadan.
- Texts and translations. The Arabic Quran text, translations, hadith, duas and other texts come from the sources named in the app. We take care to show them correctly, but errors can occur in transcription, translation or display. If you find one, please tell us and we will correct it.
- Masjid an-Nabawi walking tour (beta). The 3D walking tour is an unfinished beta. Some architecture is approximate and it is a visual aid only, not an accurate survey or a replacement for visiting. It needs a one-time download and a phone that can run 3D graphics.
- Reminders. Notifications and the adhan depend on your phone's settings, battery saving and permissions. We cannot guarantee they will always arrive on time, so do not rely on them alone for obligations.
3. Using the app
You may use the app for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to:
- copy, modify, resell, rent or redistribute the app, or put it on another store or website;
- reverse-engineer, decompile or extract the app's code, data or audio, except where the law allows it despite this rule;
- use the app, or our file hosting, in a way that harms it or other people, for example by sending automated bulk requests, or trying to get around its limits or its ads;
- use the app to harm, mislead or harass anyone, or for anything unlawful.
The app is for people of all ages. We do not ask for an account or personal details, so we cannot check anyone's age. If you are young, please use the app with a parent or guardian's guidance.
4. Free app, ads and downloads
- The app is free. There are no payments or subscriptions in the app. It shows ads, provided by Google AdMob in the Android app and Google AdSense in the web app. Section 3 of the Privacy Policy explains how ads work. We are not responsible for the products or content of advertisers.
- Downloads. Quran audio and the walking-tour model are downloaded from our file host, audio.aalisoft.com. They are large, so downloads happen over Wi-Fi by default and the app shows the size first. Your mobile operator may charge for data if you choose to download over mobile data. Downloaded files are kept on your phone and you can delete them in the app's settings.
- Updates. We may update, change or remove features, texts, audio or the tour at any time, and the app may ask you to update to keep working properly.
5. Ownership and content
- The app. The app, its design, its code, and the material we prepared (for example our illustrations, layout and compiled texts) belong to aaliSoft and are protected by copyright and similar laws. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on your own devices for as long as these terms apply to you. This licence does not give you ownership of anything.
- Religious texts. The Quran and the prophetic and Ahl al-Bayt traditions are not owned by anyone. What belongs to others is the particular translations, recitations, fonts and compilations, which remain the property of their authors, reciters or publishers and are used under the permissions and licences that apply to them. Your use of them is for personal reading, listening and study only.
- Your own data. What you save in the app (favourites, counters, settings and the like) stays on your device. It is yours, and we cannot see it.
- Feedback. If you send us suggestions, we may use them to improve the app without owing you anything for them.
6. No guarantees
We work to keep the app accurate and reliable, but it is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we do not promise that the app will always work, be free of errors or interruptions, or that its times, directions, dates, texts or audio will be complete or exactly right. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the law that cannot be limited by agreement.
7. Our responsibility
To the fullest extent the law allows, aaliSoft is not responsible for any loss or harm that comes from your using, or not being able to use, the app, including from relying on a prayer time, date, direction or text without checking it, from a missed reminder, or from a download problem. This does not exclude or limit responsibility that the law does not allow to be excluded or limited, for example for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
8. Stopping use, and changes
You can stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it, and you can clear its downloaded files in the settings. We may stop or limit your access if you break these terms. We may change these terms, for example when the app changes or the law requires it. The date at the top shows when they were last updated, and where a change is important we will say so in the app or on this page. If you keep using the app after a change, you accept the updated terms.
9. General
If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a part straight away, we have not given it up. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about the app. The law that applies, and the courts that can hear a dispute, are those that apply where you live as a consumer, to the extent the law gives you that right.
10. Contact
